Art of the Saddlemaker Show: Denver Springs, Co |
|
![]() Built on a Rod Nikkel Weatherly tree, this saddle combines beauty and function in a piece of western art that will stand the test of many long days horseback. The seat is 15", fork is 8" wide and the taylor shape cantle is 4 1/2" x 12. I carved it with a combination of my 2 favorite patterns, lilies and wild roses. SOLD! |
Here I am with the show saddle I built for the Colorado Saddlemaker's Assoc. "Art of the Saddlemaker Show" in September, 2006. It was a juried show held at the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs. My entry was a sweet little loop seat saddle, carved with lilies and prairie roses and a fleur d'lis serpentine border. It was displayed in the main exhibit hall of the museum for over a month with 16 other incredible works of western saddlery, including one by my SFCC instructor and good friend, Jesse Smith. I drove the saddle down, had great visits with friends and craftsmen; learned some things, and saw some stunning country! |
